1. The DOJ served the Fed with grand jury subpoenas 👨⚖️

Trump: “We’re criminally indicting you for lying under oath about the Fed building renovation cost.”

Powell: “Errr, ok… you sure this isn’t about us not lowering rates as much as you’d like?”

The market reaction so far:

Gold – ripped.
Bitcoin – yawned.
Stocks – slumped.

2. Macro 🌎

Ok, take all of the above, and add it to the following…

Markets react to Trump's call for 10% credit card rate cap – Mon – The current rate is ~22%. This change would hit large banks’ earnings by an estimated 5-18%.
December CPI Inflation data – Tue – Did inflation cool, or heat up last month?
October New Home Sales data – Tue – Were Americans buying more or less new homes at the start of last quarter?
Market Structure Bill vote – Wed – This bill will make crypto safe to invest in (from a regulatory standpoint) in the U.S. This Wednesday’s vote is step 2/5 of getting it passed.
November PPI Inflation data – Wed – How much did wholesale prices increase/decrease in November?
US Supreme Court Tariff ruling expected – Wed – Will the Supreme Court rule in favor of the Trump Tariffs?

On that last point, betting markets are saying “Eh, probably not”.
