MetaMask Teams Up With Mastercard To Launch A Debit Card

MetaMask has announced the launch of their debit card in collaboration with Mastercard and Baanx. According to the details from their press release, this card enables users to spend directly from their MetaMask wallet.

MetaMask announced that eligible users can use the debit card to make everyday purchases with crypto anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

MetaMask debit card pilot limited to users in the EU and UK

Lorenzo Santos, Senior Product Manager at Consensys, stated that the card will give people more freedom to spend their crypto. “MetaMask Card represents a major step to removing the friction that has traditionally existed between the blockchain and real-world commerce. This is a paradigm shift that offers the best of both worlds,” Lorenzo said.

As per the details, this pilot feature is currently available only to a limited number of users in the EU and UK. To check their eligibility, users can check whether they have a “Card” tab in their portfolio section.

The card is powered by Mastercard’s global merchant network, which allows users to use crypto for everyday transactions. The initial launch will also include the option to integrate with Apple Pay or Google Pay.
