Lugano cements itself as a progressive city

By accepting two mainstream cryptocurrencies for full settlement of public expenses alongside traditional options, Lugano cements itself as one of Switzerland’s most crypto-progressive urban centers.

The expansion aligns with Lugano’s collaboration with Tether, dubbed “Plan B.” The plan is in an effort to utilize Bitcoin’s technological infrastructure across aspects of municipal finance and daily routines.

Swiss crypto firm Bitcoin Suisse aided the integration by providing the back-end payment solution. Additionally, using any standard crypto wallet, citizens need only scan a Swiss QR code on invoices and select the desired coin for seamless payment.

Schmid said

Lugano continues to implement practical crypto utilities to become one of the first cities to accept Bitcoin and Tether.
