Arbitrum Is Now Up And Running After Partial Outage
Arbitrum One Sequencer experienced a temporary stall on December 15, causing disruptions and triggering concerns within the Ethereum layer-2 network’s community.
The outage, lasting approximately 78 minutes, led to chaos and confusion among users as the previously scheduled “ask me anything” Twitter Spaces session at 12 p.m. ET was abruptly canceled.
The sequencer hiccup occurred at 10:29 a.m. EST, coinciding with a significant surge in network traffic. According to the team, a sustained influx of transactions overwhelmed the sequencer, halting its ability to properly relay transactions.

Arbitrum resumes operations soon
The issue was promptly addressed, and the sequencer resumed operation at 11:57 a.m. EST. However, due to the backlog caused by the interruption, gas prices on Arbitrum One are in the process of recovering from the heightened transaction volume.
The team behind Arbitrum One is actively investigating the root cause of the incident and has assured the community that a comprehensive post-mortem will be provided at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime, users are encouraged to exercise patience as gas prices stabilize and operations return to normal.
Ricardo Gordan, the community manager of Arbitrum One’s Discord, acknowledged the abnormality in gas fees on the network but assured users that they are expected to “normalize” in the near future.
