🥛 Jack Dorsey and Jay-Z 🤝 Bitcoin

GM. This is the Milk Road, the best fricken crypto newsletter on the planet.

Here's what we got to close out the week:

  • 💸 Funding Friday

Estimated read time: 1 minute & 41 seconds

Jack and Jay are back at it again. This time they’re launching the Bitcoin Academy.

We know what you’re thinking: “Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey???”

Jay-Z is the type of guy to wear Nike on walks. Jack wears the Jesus 11s. You’d never really expect them to be friends.

But the truth is.. they’re homies. And they like to go on walks in the Hamptons together.

They’ve been working together for a while now too:

Jack acquired Jay-Z’s company, Tidal last year.

They invested $24M to start ₿trust, a fund to help bitcoin development in Africa and India.

Now they’re creating Bitcoin Academy with one goal: to teach the locals of Marcy Houses (where Jay-Z grew up) all about crypto.

There’s even gonna be a “crypto kids camp” where each kid gets a small amount of BTC to play around with.

There's nothing better than ending the week on a feel good story where an unlikely duo teams up to give back to the community.

The CryptoPunks just had their 5th Birthday.

It’s the 2nd highest selling NFT collection of all time with $2.2B in all-time sales volume (Axie Infinity is first)

Happy Birthday, Punks.

An All-Star actor. A two-time Academy Award winner. Hannibal Lecter himself…is hungry for his first NFT purchase.

But making your first NFT buy is no easy task. Especially for an 84-year-old who probably thinks OpenSea is the name of a futuristic, self-driving boat…

So like the smart man he is, Anthony Hopkins chose to use his “Phone-A-Friend” to get some help. Who’d he call for help?

None other than Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon, and Reese Witherspoon.

He also switched up his Twitter name to AHopkins.eth.

Now he’s just flexin on us.

Each Friday, we give you a rundown of Web3 companies that got funded.

This week we saw ~$900M get invested into companies. Here’s who got the money:

Calaxy got $26M to build out a social platform for creators and their fans. It’s the Cameo of Web3.

Curio got $3.7M to develop NFT intelligence tools for investors.

Adim got $5M to give a group of writers the ability to create IP together and share royalties. It’s a Web3 writers room.

Anotherblock got $2.5M to enable fans to invest in music and earn royalties from their favorite artists.

Pintu got $113M to build out their crypto exchange. They’re trying to be the Binance of Indonesia.

Ledgible got $20M to make crypto accounting & taxes easier.

Earlier this week we asked you to tell us one thing…. What was the last song you listened to?

We took your submissions and created the dopest playlist in all of Web3. And you'll be hearing from us soon if we picked your song to get a little ETH!

Crypto moves fast so it's either hard to keep up or hard to remember everything that's happened.
